Testimonials

GameBook mission

Co-founders Mikko Manerus and Kalle Vainola

“As PGA professionals, we have participated in literally hundreds of corporate outings and Pro-Ams. Our inspiration came from seeing golfers come to the first tee super excited, but some losing interest after only a few bad holes. Players did not really feel a part of the overall event. GameBook solves the problem by connecting people with the game.

Our overall aim is to increase value for golf clubs, corporate outings, and individual players by making golf more enjoyable – and GameBook provides that.”

Game formats and real-time leaderboards

Numerous game formats and more on the way

Now every golfer can play side games without being distracted from the actual game of golf. GameBook comes with many built-in side games, including established favourites like Stroke Play, Nassau, Skins, Stableford, and Scramble, together with some exciting newly developed games – with more on the way!

Stroke Play can be played with or without handicaps. In the example above, Stroke Play is played with handicaps. The cumulative score is updated after each hole. For example, Mikko Ilonen is at -2 after 7 holes. Scores for the last hole are always shown on the screen (hole 7). The current hole is highlighted in green. The number of shots a player gets on a hole is indicated on the green bar.

When playing Stableford, the scores are calculated as points. For example, Mikko Ilonen has 16 points after 7 holes. On the score view, the larger number shows strokes and the smaller number net points. Stableford can be played in two ways: Regular or Modified. The current hole is highlighted in green. The number of shots a player gets on a hole is indicated on the green bar.

In Scramble, only the team score is entered in to the GameBook. In the Stroke Play example above, Team Cink is at -6 after 7 holes. The initials of each player are listed under the team name.

Erado is totally new side game developed by the GameBook Team making the game easier and more fun. Each player has 4 “lives”, which can be used to erase bad holes from the final score. The decision to erase a score must be made immediately… before playing the next hole. The final hole is always counted IN and cannot be erased.

Erado can only be played using Stroke Play (with Handicaps or Scratch). The leaderboard is always kept relative to par (+ or -). Bullets next to the players name show how many Erados are left to use.

Duplicate is another new side game developed by the GameBook Team adding more excitement to the game. Duplicate can only be played using Stableford points. Before each hole, the GameBook randomly draws a multiplier of one, two or three for the hole. This means that the Stableford points will be multiplied making it more important to score well on the higher multiplier holes.

Duplicate is an extremely thrilling game and after playing it, you’ll never play normal Stableford again.

Live leaderboards

GameBook’s real-time score tracking allows you to follow every player – hole by hole, letting you know instantly who is leading. While ingenious vertical and horizontal orientation switches enable you to switch views between real-time leaderboards and individual scorecards. You can also follow the different side games in real-time.

Primary Game: Full

Primary game can be chosen from numerous individual or team games. The leaderboard shows scores for every player relative to par and how many holes have been played. If a player has finished the round, the final result is shown on the score line.

Primary Game: Group

Selecting “Group” removes all other players except the ones in your group. This makes it possible to quickly glance to see how the players in your group are holding up on the leader board. Selecting “Full” brings back the full event leaderboard.

Side Game: Full

Side game can be any of the numerous games on GameBook. It can be an individual or a team game. This example shows a Best Ball game where the two low scores are used. Side games give more depth to the golf round as they allow players to follow a live leaderboard in addition to the primary game.

Side Game: Group

Selecting “Group” removes all other players except the ones in your group. This makes it possible to quickly glance to see how the players in your group are holding up on the leaderboard. Selecting “Full” brings back the full event leaderboard.

Contest: Closest to Pin

Different contests in a tournament can be followed through GameBook in real-time. It is possible to organize Closest to Pin contest at every par 3 hole.

Contest: Long Drive

Long Drive can be found from the contest leaderboard. It is possible to organize this contest on any par 4 or par 5 hole.

Contest: Straight Drive

Instead of the distance, this contest measures the straightness of the shot. Results are measured from a line in the middle of the fairway.

Wager: Primary

Wager leaderboard shows the status of the wagers set for the round. The “units” for each wager can selected when setting up the game. This example shows the standings in a game of Nassau with all the presses.

Wager: Side

This example shows the wager standings for a Skins game with some extras. For example, birdies and eagles can be extras.

Wager: Total

Total wager leaderboard shows the combined results from the primary and side games. This will show all the payouts immediately!
